A Proud History
Highland's original townsite was founded in 1891, and the community soon became an important contributor to the citrus industry. Many of the buildings constructed during the town's early era are still in use, helping to preserve the sense of community and transition into the Highland of today.

Full Range of Housing Options
Highland is primarily a residential community and offers a full range of affordable housing options. Currently, six different residential developers are building here. Our City is also the home of East Highlands Ranch, a master-planned community featuring premium housing and private recreation facilities.

Education
Books Education is a top priority in Highland, with two award-winning school districts serving the community: The Redlands Unified School District and the San Bernardino Unified School District, both of which have schools that were named as California Distinguished Schools. Several private and parochial schools and many licensed preschools also serve the immediate area. College-bound students will have no problem finding quality education close to home. Highland is only minutes from the best, fully accredited undergraduate and graduate universities and colleges the state: University of Redlands, Loma Linda University, University of California at Riverside, and California State University San Bernardino. Community Colleges include San Bernardino Valley and Crafton.

Recreation
Rolling Along Flanked by the often snowcapped peaks of the San Bernardino and San Gabriel Mountains, Highland is close to an array of skiing and other mountain recreational opportunities. The community is also only 45 minutes from Palm Springs and is located close to all of the Southern California's other cultural and recreational attractions. Highland has an extensive trails system linking to the Santa Ana River Trail which will one day connect the San Bernardino Mountains to the Orange County coast.

Health Care
The greater Highland/Inland Empire is home to some of the most prestigious medical institutions in the world. These facilities include the world renowned Loma Linda University Medical Center, Arrowhead Regional Medical, J. Pettis V.A. Hospital and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals. Also close are all major Los Angeles area medical services and facilities.
